Numerical simulations

Numerical simulations of a coupled two-phase-field, Navier-Stokes system.

As part of my PhD, I develop finite-volume numerical methods for a multiphysics system coupling two Cahn-Hilliard equations with Navier-Stokes, modeling the evolution of two phase fields advected by an incompressible flow. Below are a few simulations produced along the way — more, longer runs to come as the methods mature.

Two bubbles rising under gravity, coupled to the surrounding flow.
Two bubbles evolving in a lid-driven cavity flow.
Spinodal-decomposition-like phase evolution in a cavity flow.
